Why climate change should be included in municipal master plans

Cities are the largest emitters of greenhouse gases, yet they suffer the most intense effects of climate change, accumulating social and economic losses (IPCC, 2022). This situation highlights the need to include measures to address climate change in urban planning. Planning cities for the future requires understanding contemporary challenges and adopting appropriate measures. Therefore, it is essential to understand how Brazilian municipalities address climate change and urban resilience in their master plans.
