This special publication is the result of a stakeholder-centered co-creation process, stemming from continuous efforts throughout the year within our Just Transitions in Motion project.

The Just Transition (JT) Compass goes beyond defining JTs; it focuses on case studies and the implementation of just transitions in different contexts. The manual also addresses how international actors, including the UNFCCC, can assist national actors in overcoming barriers to JT implementation.

The Compass was developed by Climate Strategies and @laclima_ as part of the Just Transitions in Motion project, implemented by the Climate Diplomacy Action Programme of the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH, with the support of the COP30 Presidency, in collaboration with the Brazilian Ministry of the Environment (MMA) and funding from the International Climate Initiative (IKI) on behalf of the German Federal Ministry for the Environment, Climate Action, Nature Conservation and Nuclear Safety (BMUKN).
