.png)
Developed in partnership with the governments of the states of Acre and Rondônia, the guide establishes a benchmark for the development of carbon projects within the unique legal, social, and environmental context of the Amazon. By guiding nature-based solutions with high integrity and the potential to access better market prices, the guide seeks to channel more funding to forest communities—strengthening local livelihoods and expanding conservation.
Among the main topics covered:
Who can implement carbon projects in Brazil and under what conditions?
How to interact with the Brazilian Emissions Trading System (SBCE) and the resolutions of the National REDD+ Commission.
The centrality of land rights in ensuring the legal validity of claims.
Good practices to ensure free, prior and informed consent (FPIC) of Indigenous Peoples and Traditional Communities
Guidelines for ensuring a fair and equitable distribution of benefits.
