Developed in partnership with the governments of the states of Acre and Rondônia, the guide establishes a benchmark for the development of carbon projects within the unique legal, social, and environmental context of the Amazon. By guiding nature-based solutions with high integrity and the potential to access better market prices, the guide seeks to channel more funding to forest communities—strengthening local livelihoods and expanding conservation.

• Who can implement carbon projects in Brazil and under what conditions?

• How to interact with the Brazilian Emissions Trading System (SBCE) and the resolutions of the National REDD+ Commission.

• The centrality of land rights in ensuring the legal validity of claims.

• Good practices to ensure free, prior and informed consent (FPIC) of Indigenous Peoples and Traditional Communities
