On August 28th, the Amazon Working Group of the LACLIMA Network submitted a contribution to the UN Special Rapporteur on the human right to a healthy environment.

The contribution highlights challenges in the Amazonian reality, such as agrarian conflicts and violence in the countryside, the impacts of the new General Law on Environmental Licensing on Indigenous Peoples and Traditional Communities, and the importance of strengthening protection mechanisms, including Brazil's ratification of the Escazú Agreement.

The initiative seeks to bring the specificities of the Amazon to the international debate and contribute to strengthening the protection of those who defend the environment and territories.
