During the first week of the UNFCCC Subsidiary Body (SB) Sessions in Bonn, LACLIMA participated in another workshop dedicated to Article 6.8 of the Paris Agreement, an event mandated within the agenda of the Glasgow Committee on Non-Market Approaches (GCNMA).
On that occasion, we presented to Parties and observers the proposal submitted in response to the call for submissions for the 9th GCNMA meeting, which aimed to gather suggestions for topics for the workshop discussions.

Regarding Non-Marketing Approaches (NMAs)
NMAs are a form of international cooperation based on Article 6.8 that does not involve the exchange of carbon credits—unlike the mechanisms provided for in Articles 6.2 and 6.4. This cooperation between countries may include financing, technology transfer, and technical and knowledge-based capabilities, with the purpose of supporting the implementation of climate measures.

Our Contribution as a Support Provider for the NMA Platform
Acting as a Support Provider for the NMA Platform, LACLIMA seeks to contribute to advancing discussions towards the practical implementation of Article 6.8.
Therefore, our proposal was to discuss how existing national, regional, and international platforms can support the development of NMAs, connecting initiatives, expanding cooperation opportunities, and strengthening the engagement of different actors in climate action.

In the workshop, we presented an analysis of:

• The main similarities and differences between the NMA Platform and other platforms already in operation;

• How to promote interoperability between these platforms and the registration of projects;

• Ways to enhance the NMA Platform, making the implementation of non-market approaches more efficient.

LACLIMA continues to monitor the Article 6.8 agenda in Bonn and will continue to share experiences and knowledge about NMAs.
