LACLIMA at UNFCCC Climate Week in Yeosu, Korea

LACLIMA co-organized the workshop “Just Transitions in Motion: Implementation of Just, Orderly and Equitable Transitions for Energy, Workforce and Socioeconomic” , which took place during the 2026 UNFCCC Asia Climate Week.
The meeting was organized in partnership with Solutions for Our Climate (SFOC) and the Indonesia Research Institute for Decarbonization (IRID), bringing together negotiators, experts, civil society, think tanks, and international organizations to discuss the challenges of implementing just, orderly, and equitable transitions.
The workshop was structured in two parts:
The first part is dedicated to the exchange of experiences and case studies on just transition initiatives in the energy, agriculture, labor, and development finance sectors;
The second part focuses on the collective construction of solutions to operationalize Just Transition mechanisms, including climate finance, high-integrity carbon credits, and sovereign green bonds.
Among the main points discussed throughout the workshop, the following stood out:
The need to strengthen current Just Transition frameworks, moving from conceptual diagnoses to more concrete implementation mechanisms.
The importance of connecting the debate to sectoral realities and the practical experiences of the different actors involved, making the reflections more applicable to the day-to-day challenges faced in the climate transition.
The recognition that diversity and balance among negotiators, civil society, think tanks, and international organizations directly influence the quality, depth, and potential impact of technical and political discussions.
More than discussing concepts, the challenge now is to advance the implementation of concrete mechanisms that make the Just Transition financially viable, socially inclusive, and politically applicable.
