Energy transitions will only be successful if they are also just transitions. For this to happen, it is essential to strengthen the link between commitments made internationally and their concrete implementation in territories, ensuring that no one is left behind in the process of transforming energy systems.

It was in this context that ALER and LACLIMA organized, during SB64 in Bonn, the workshop "Pathways to a Just Transition in CPLP Countries" , with the aim of strengthening a common agenda that integrates energy and climate and contributes to accelerating concrete solutions in Portuguese-speaking countries.

The session brought together representatives from Angola, Brazil, Cape Verde, Guinea-Bissau, Mozambique, Portugal, São Tomé and Príncipe, and Timor-Leste, promoting dialogue and cooperation around the challenges and opportunities associated with a just energy transition.

The workshop also highlighted instruments and initiatives that can support the construction of this common agenda, namely:

• Roadmap for Cooperation 2030 on Energy and Climate in the CPLP Countries , presented by ALER;

• Compass for Just Transition , presented by LACLIMA;

• Transitioning Away from Fossil Fuels: A Roadmap Based on Renewables, Electrification and Grid Enhancement , presented by IRENA.

More than just a space for reflection, this initiative has established itself as a platform for convergence and action, reinforcing the importance of cooperation among CPLP countries to mobilize investment, promote knowledge sharing, and accelerate the implementation of policies and projects that contribute to a just, inclusive, and sustainable energy transition.

At a crucial moment for the global climate agenda, the workshop reinforced the need for coordinated action among Portuguese-speaking countries, creating a foundation for a stronger and more collaborative stance towards COP31 and the Sustainable Development Goals.
